Tree in Malakasa

Tree in Malakasa

Limited Edition Print: 23 out of 25 available

The fine artwork “Tree in Malakasa” was taken nearby Malakasa refugee camp. A camp surrounded by forested mountains in the shadow of Athens. One of the camps to which refugees are taken after the evictions in Exarchia. A camp that hardly has enough space and is therefore overcrowded, resulting in horrifying conditions.“As a photographer I am less interested in literal documentation, but other things stand out to me. This tree that seems to be half dying and half trying to stay alive touched me in a way. I see it as a metaphor for perseverance and the problematic refugee situation.” - Jildo Tim Hof
